The trip is going to be very long. With today's rockets, it takes about seven months to fly to Mars — and the astronauts are going to stay there for over a year, until the planets line up again for the trip home.
Life on Mars is going to be hard. There is almost no air, and the temperature can drop to minus 80 degrees. The astronauts are going to live in special houses, and they are going to grow some of their own food.
