Every invention starts with one person's idea. Thomas Edison's light bulb, Alexander Graham Bell's telephone and the Wright brothers' airplane all changed our world.
Edison was not a good student. His teachers thought he was slow, so he studied at home. In his workshop he tried thousands of materials for the light bulb. “I have not failed,” he said. “I just found ten thousand ways that do not work.”
The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, had a bicycle shop. Their dream was to fly. In 1903, their plane, the Flyer, stayed in the air for twelve seconds. It was the world's first real flight.
Today, your phone is a camera, a computer and a telephone in one. Maybe one day your idea will be in a museum, next to Edison's light bulb. What will its name be?
