It was a cold, gray morning. On his way home from school, Omer saw a small dog under a bench. The dog was wet and helpless, and it had no collar. Was it homeless?
Omer wanted to help, but he was careful. Some dogs bite when they are scared. He sat down slowly and held out a piece of his sandwich. The dog came closer. It was very thankful — and very hungry!
Omer called his dad, who said, “Bring it home, but be careful on the road.” At home they gave the dog a warm bath. Under all the mud, it had a beautiful golden coat.
The next day, they put up signs, but nobody called. Dad smiled. “I think our wonderful new friend is staying with us.” Omer gave a joyful shout and named the dog Lucky.
