Every school has a lost-and-found box, but ours is special. It is a big wooden box next to the office, and Mr. Levi, the school guard, takes care of it.
One morning, Tom ran to the office. “I lost my blue jacket yesterday,” he said. “Is it here?”
Mr. Levi opened the box. “Let's see. Is this your jacket?” He held up a blue jacket with a red pocket. “No, that isn't mine. Mine has a white zipper.”
He tried again. “And these gloves? Are these yours?” Tom laughed. “No, those are much too big for me!”
Then Tom saw something at the bottom of the box. “Wait! That blue sleeve there — can I see it?” Mr. Levi pulled it out. It was his jacket! “This is it!” Tom shouted. “Thank you so much!”
Mr. Levi smiled. “You know, every week I find dozens of things in this box: jackets, hats, water bottles, even shoes. Kids lose everything!” He looked at Tom. “Please write your name on your things from now on.”
