Many people think that a camel keeps water in its hump. That is not true! The hump is full of fat. When there isn't any food, the camel uses the fat for energy.

Camels live in deserts, where there isn't much water. A camel can walk for a week without drinking any water at all. But when it finds water, it drinks a lot of water very fast — up to 100 liters in ten minutes!

Camels have some other tricks too. They have two rows of long eyelashes, so sand doesn't get into their eyes. Their wide feet don't sink into the sand.

For thousands of years, desert people have used camels to carry many heavy things. How many kilograms can a camel carry? About 200!
