Gary is ten, and he says “no” to everything.
“Do you want pancakes?” asks Dad. “No, I don't want pancakes.” “Do you want to play outside?” asks his sister. “No. It isn't fun.”
At school, Gary doesn't talk much. Nobody sits next to him at lunch.
One day, a new boy comes to class. His name is Leo, and he never stops smiling. “Do you like football?” Leo asks. Gary opens his mouth to say “no,” but nothing comes out. “Well… yes,” he says.
Now Gary and Leo are friends, and Gary doesn't say “no” all the time.
