Last week, I interviewed my grandpa, Moshe, for the school newspaper. I asked him what school was like seventy years ago.
Grandpa said that his class had forty-five children and only one teacher. He told me that they wrote with pens that they dipped in ink, and that their fingers were always blue.
I asked him if they had computers. Grandpa laughed. He said that there were no computers and no phones. If they wanted to talk to a friend, they walked to his house.
At the end, I asked him what his advice for students today was. He told me to read a lot of books and to respect my teachers. “Some things never change,” he said with a smile.
