1 Two weeks before Passover, the students of class 6B did something special. Instead of a regular school day, they went to a food bank in their city.
2 A food bank collects food from shops, factories and people, and gives it to families who need help. Before the holidays, many families cannot buy everything they need. Some people are sick, and some don't have work. The food bank tries to make sure that every family can have a holiday meal.
3 The students worked in a huge warehouse. Some of them sorted cans and bottles. Others checked the dates on the packages. Yonatan and Itai were in charge of packing. In each box, they put rice, oil, matzot, vegetables, fruit and a bottle of grape juice. By two o'clock, they had packed three hundred boxes!
4 At the end of the day, the manager of the food bank thanked the class. “Tomorrow, these boxes will go to three hundred families,” he said. On the bus back to school, Itai was tired but happy. “I thought it would be boring,” he told Yonatan, “but it was the best day of the year.”
