1 Every Tuesday after school, twelve boys meet in the science room. They are the members of the Robot Club. This year, the club had a big goal: to build a robot that can help the planet.
2 The boys talked for a long time. Then Amir had an idea. “Many people throw plastic and paper into the same bin,” he said. “Our robot can sort them!” Everyone liked the idea, and their teacher said it was a great plan.
3 Building the robot was not easy. The first robot was too slow. The second one could not tell the difference between plastic and paper. Some days, the boys wanted to stop. But the boys did not give up. They worked for three months and tried again and again.
4 In June, the club took the robot to a national competition in Haifa. Their robot, Sorty, sorted fifty pieces of rubbish in two minutes. It did not win first place, but the judges gave the boys a special prize for the best idea. “We learned that mistakes are part of the work,” said Amir.
